Shanghai
Pudong Airport Arrival
We arrived at Shanghai
Pudong Airport Terminal 2 at 12 midnight. The airport is massive with 200+
departure/arrival gates. Immigration queue and baggage claim is fast. As usual,
we took city travel maps before heading out the airport.
Since it is already outside the operational hours of the
Maglev train, we took a cab to the city center. The taxi area in Shanghai Pudong Airport is easy to spot,
especially that all signs in the airport are both in English and Chinese. It is
also surprising that there are plenty of cabs in the taxi bay even in the wee
hours of the morning. There is no need to queue. Taxi in Shanghai
is safe and cheap, but be ready to brace yourself for a super fast crazy ride. J
In about an hour, we reached our hotel in Puxi. Taxi fare from airport is about
RM220.00 (USD 35.00).
The only downside with Shanghai
cab drivers is that they don’t understand English. Anticipating this to happen,
it’s a good thing that we have printed out taxi cards of our destinations
before we departed for Shanghai.
The taxi print outs indicate the Chinese name of your destination (hotel, mall,
tourist place, etc) including a map which you can show to the taxi cab drivers.
You can get the taxi print outs from ShanghaiMetro.com.
